Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is giclee?
Giclee is a technology and giclee is a product of the giclee technology. As a technology, it is a process of reproduction of fine art pieces using a special high-end museum quality inkjet printer to make individual copies that have a longevity of more than 100 years. As a product of that technology, it is a museum quality print either on canvas or on watercolor paper that is normally hand signed and numbered by the artist. Giclee process is popular among fine artists and photographers who specialize in fine art photography.
Q: Do we sell original pieces?
Yes, we do. but we prefer not to conduct the sales of originals online. you would have to contact us via email if you are interested in the original pieces.
Q: What is the life expectancy of the Giclee print?
Under normal lighting conditions, the colors on our prints will not noticeably fade for over 100 years. Prints should not be exposed to direct sunlight the same like any original artwork. The well-manufactured pigmented inks used are the best on the market in longevity.
Q: Will print colors be exact to what I see on my computer screen?
No, the picture you see on your computer screen is made up of RGB colors and your screen is in effect by a big light bulb so what you see is called additive color. Paper is not backlit, the ink colors do not have the benefit of light enhancing them and making them brighter., This is commonly called subtractive color. We calibrate our printers so we get the best color range possible.
Q: Do you offer a certificate of authenticity with prints?
Yes, we have offer FREE standard Certificates of Authenticity. You can also ask us to design and print custom Certificates of Authenticity (call us for quote)
Q: Are the prints smudge-proof, waterproof?
Yes. Canvas prints are absolutely smudge-proof and waterproof even without any top coating. UV protective varnishes that we use for canvases add even more durability. Watercolor paper prints are already smudge-proof. Concerning water sensitivity, they are similar to watercolor painting and should be handled the same way. They can be lightly spray coated for durability but still framing behind glass is necessary.
